5 Events When Our Magnum Sized Natural Red Wine is Absolutely Necessary

Big things, big packages. At Jumbo Time Wines, we pride ourselves on never giving less than 100% in everything we do. In fact, more often than not, we’re looking for ways to go above and beyond with our natural wines. So, why should we limit ourselves to the standard 0.75L wine bottles?

You’re right, we shouldn’t.

That’s why we’ve introduced the Magnum (weighing in at a whopping 1.5L) to our natural wine varietals. (More on how you can get your hands on one of the last few Magnum bottles below.)

If you’re asking yourself, “when will I ever need 1.5 liters of natural wine,” you wouldn’t be the first. Our (short) answer is, when will you not need 1.5 liters of natural wine? But, if you’re still unsure if a Magnum sized bottle of one of our natural wine varietals is right for you, here are five events we think having an extra large bottle of wine on hand is absolutely necessary.

What Are Magnums?

We’ll break it down for you — a Magnum sized bottle of wine is 1.5 liters of crisp, juicy, natural wine. This is the equivalent of two standard sized bottles of wine which rations out to eight glasses (or six, if you prefer a heavy pour) of wine.

A magnum bottle is considered to be better for a number of reasons (apart from its attractive presentation and impressive size):

  1. Magnums enable a superior maturation of the natural wine it contains. Due to less air existing between the cork and the wine, there is less oxidation and at a slower rate. Wine in a larger format will age more slowly and can even develop greater complexity and more nuances than when it’s bottled in a smaller size.
  2. With its thicker glass and more volume of wine inside, a Magnum is less likely to undergo variations in temperature, creating a steadier and more even aging of the wine.
  3. The bottle itself is more resistant and highly suitable for storage and cellaring.

With these benefits and more, it’s hard to say no to opting for the larger, more impressive, Magnum sized natural wine. But, if nothing else, we recommend choosing a Magnum for these five crucial events:

  • Weddings
  • First dates
  • Backyard BBQs
  • Birthdays
  • Office parties

Weddings

Nothing screams “celebration of love” more than a perfectly poured glass of natural wine. Whether it's your best friend’s big day or your own, make sure the wedding reception is prepared with a few Magnums — better quality, larger quantity, more bang for your buck. Trust us, your guests will thank you.

First Dates

First date nerves? There’s nothing that will take the edge off more quite like a few glasses of red. Not only will pulling out a Magnum put your own nerves at ease, but we guarantee you’ll instantly impress your date as well (make them think they’ve got a winner!).

Backyard BBQs

Hosting your summertime backyard parties just got a whole lot easier with the option of our Magnum sized natural wine. With just one bottle, you can fill up to eight glasses, ensuring your guests are never empty handed and guaranteeing a fun night ahead.

Birthdays

What better way to show a friend how much you care than by getting them the biggest and best birthday present? We know, it’s the thought that counts, but be honest … the size of a gift also counts a little bit, too. Your friends and family deserve the biggest birthday gifts and a Magnum sized natural wine is probably just what they’re looking for

Office Parties

Office parties can go one of two ways: they can either be incredibly dull or they can result in stories that will be shared for years to come. Eliminate the risk of the former by providing your office gathering with a Magnum or two — everyone is guaranteed to have a great time once they’ve got a few sips of our natural wine in them!

Get Your Own Magnum

Okay, we’ve gotten you all excited about our Magnums, so here’s how to get your hands on one. True to the hype, many of our Magnums sold out incredibly fast (what can we say? We know what the people want!), but you can still get our natural red wine Game 7 in a Magnum.

Game 7 is a crisp, light natural red wine perfect for the summertime. A blend of 85% carbonic Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Blanc, the Mendocino fruit in this red wine varietal blends together to create a refreshing natural red wine perfect for those moments right as the sun is starting to set and the sky begins blending light blue and orange hues.

A flavor that emulates pink peppercorn and vanilla bean, Game 7 smells like lightly trodden Spring grass and wild raspberries, tastes like bruised red fruit (tart, with an underlying note of cranberries and currants), and is without much structure so that it disappears rather quickly. If you’re one of the few who can manage to keep it open long enough, you’ll be privileged enough to notice that the rose qualities of the Pinot Noir begin to come out even more.

(I mean come on, after that how can you convince yourself that you don’t need the largest bottle of this fruit-forward natural red wine that we have to offer?)
