Daddy's Home

Maybe you guessed by the name, but Daddy's Home is what we like to call a Dad Wine. Big, but easy to drink, fresh but inky, precise but expressive. It’s the answer to what you should bring to dinner with your parents, when you want to enjoy what you’re drinking too! This is for the non-believer, to show that believing in great farming, and minimal intervention cellar practices doesn’t result in messy, freaky wines. (Sometimes, sure, but not always!) 

This is 100% Syrah coming from Mendocino County, grown by the Amitabha Vineyard (infinite light in Sanskrit). We harvested in early September, and fermented partially whole clusters of grapes, with the rest de-stemmed entirely. We did some heavy pump-overs before we pressed the juice off into neutral French oak barrels, and let it rest for fourteen months.

The result is a concentrated, dark red wine balanced out by a fresh plummy palate. It’s boozy at nearly 15% ABV, but it drinks way lighter than you’d expect, we promise it’s not a bruiser! We’ve always wanted to make a big California red wine and chose Syrah for its complexities. It’s a beautiful grape that we feel excited to keep investing time into working with, and hope you’ll join us!

Daddy’s Home shows all the pretty floral qualities of Syrah, against a backdrop of velvety red and purple fruit. It tastes like mulberries and fresh blackberry jam, but it smells like crushed violets, reminiscent of our favorite French Syrahs—except this one is made in our very own backyard.
